Cédric Foussard

Cédric Foussard is an expert on justice for children, working at the international level. Foussard is currently coordinator of the Global Initiative on Justice with children and is Advocacy and Global Learning Senior Advisor for Terre des hommes Foundation. For more than a decade he was Director of The International Juvenile Justice Observatory, an international not-for-profit organisation that promotes a global approach to child rights, especially for children in conflict with the law. He has contributed to several international and European publications on access to justice for children.

It is increasingly clear that the direct and indirect impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic are not borne equally, hitting the most marginalised and vulnerable the hardest. While the impact of COVID-19 on prison populations has garnered some international attention, this attention has mainly focused on adults. Children in detention have been largely overlooked, despite being disproportionally vulnerable to health risks arising due to the conditions in which so many are being held.
