"Speaking as a completely unqualified ‘lay-person’, i give this advice:
* why not consider having the ‘general’ ‘flu vaccine anyway, you never know, it might give you some protection?"

Why do this when
50,000 doctors and nurses in the USA were surveyed, 25,000 had the flu shot and 25,000 did not. The dids got more flu than the did nots and the dids were sicker.

Research shows children who get the flu vaccine are three times more likely to be hospitalised for the flu.

Many thousands surveyed over a number of decades showed that a person having five consecutive flu shots was ten times (yes – ten times) more likely to get Alzheimer’s Disease.

A recent study showed a single flu vaccination increases the risk of cancer. Various cancers were listed with increases of 53%, 88%, 98%

A survey of 11 670 healthcare workers in UK hospitals showed 19% had taken up influenza immunisation. – their startling conclusion “The results suggest that perception of small personal benefit in relation to risk mitigates against higher uptake of routine annual influenza vaccination”. Maybe perception is close to reality.
