I hate to be negative. But, I guess I'm a realist. I see people, most politicians and all in between(except for the scientists/the environmentalists) in a state of denial or complete ignorance over climate changes and the possible horrific state we will find our selves. The average person...who compose the majority of people ...don't get it. Or they are too worried about shopping and the stock market to give time to environmental issues.

But, I can understand why some people might refuse to believe scientists when it's publicized how scientists lie about data. When so called experts in various fields turn out to be quacks.(personal experience) When recycling products there is no way to recycle with out use of chemicals/some waste spilled into the environment. That the major manufactures of baby bottles just now decided to stop using BPA when producing bottles. I could go on and on. I do not see enough people who care to make a change that will make a difference.
Too many people are only concerned about the here and now. Not years down the road. It's hell to be surrounded by stupidity.

It is true, this year is the best chance humanity has to peak emissions. We should not lose this chance.
I live in Albania, and things here are not good here; until now Albania had up to 98% of its energy produced by hydro power. This year the government has started and planned the construction of at least 1 oil fired power plant and 2 coal power plants. I understand that the government needs to cope with energy shortages caused by less water available, but the way it chose to deal with the problem will just aggravate it more.
The term "global warming" here in Albania is virtually never mentioned in the printed or electronic media. It is like a conspiracy to hide the problem and pretend it doesn't exist.
The civil society on the other hand , especially environmental NGOs, has very few resources to do anything. Many NGOs are donor or government oriented, there is no originality and grass root movement.
Developed countries' environmental organizations should do more to help the NGOs in developing and poor countries in their fight against global warming and environmental degradation. The campaign should be global, not local!
