Ignoring our own interests while supposedly helping others is not viable Personally I would seriously consider scrapping the aid budget as despite billions upon billions spent, there is very little to show for it. Certainly we need a better approach to helping other countries lift themselves out of poverty, but if they can't get rid of corruption, civil war, poor governance etc aid serves no purpose.
